Prophylactic Cleanings

Routine dental cleanings are a great way to remove tartar and stain buildup while preventing gum disease. For our healthy patients, we recommend a checkup at least every six months (for adults and children alike).

During your checkup we’ll also take periodic X-rays to aid in screening for symptoms of disease, tooth decay, bone loss, etc. around the teeth and jaws. We’ll share these images with you so that you can work with us jointly to plan appropriate care for any concerns that we find.

Periodontal Therapy (Scaling and Root Planing)

Gum disease is the leading cause of adult tooth loss. Our deep cleanings combat periodontitis where it starts: just under the gums and along the roots of your teeth. Get a gum disease screening at least once per year to intervene before bone loss becomes severe.

Oral Cancer Screenings

A professional oral cancer exam could save your life. This deadly disease affects thousands of people each year and is especially dangerous because it’s hard to diagnose on your own. Factors as simple as sun exposure or viruses can increase your risk of a positive diagnosis.

Protective Sealants

These thin coatings help by covering the deep grooves and pits on the chewing surfaces of your child’s back teeth. A sealant is easy to apply, and no numbing is needed. We can usually place them at the same time as a usual checkup.

Fluoride

Strengthen weak and sensitive tooth enamel to make it resistant to decay and irritation. Fluoride is helpful for people of all ages, especially those in braces.
