TEETH WHITENING

Professional KöR Teeth Whitening in Princeton, NJ

Have you always wanted to get cosmetic dentistry or a smile makeover, but think you can’t afford it? Improving your smile’s appearance doesn’t have to be expensive.  You may be surprised to see how much of a confidence booster it can be just by whitening the color of your teeth.

Canal Vista Family Dental offers professional KöR Whitening solutions for our patients in Princeton, NJ! Our Princeton teeth whitening treatments include KöR’s at-home system or our in-office procedure.

At Home Teeth Whitening Systems That Work

Professional strength take-home teeth whitening is effective and affordable. First, we’ll take impressions of your teeth and make a pair of fitted trays, then show you how to place the professional grade bleaching gel inside of them.  Over the period of a few days, you’ll wear your bleaching trays for the allotted timeframe (about an hour per day.) Most of our Princeton teeth whitening patients start seeing results after just a few days. Optimal brightness will be reached in approximately 10-14 days.

Once you’re satisfied with your results, just save your trays and you can touch up again a few months down the road. Whitening gel refills are available for purchase in our office, so you can easily keep your teeth white for years to come. We recommend touching up after every cleaning.

In-Office Teeth Whitening Treatment

Some people prefer to whiten their teeth in one day.  With in-house KöR whitening, you can. This procedure usually takes about an hour and a half to complete, giving you dramatically brighter teeth at the same appointment.  We first place a protective cover on your gums and cheeks, then apply the professional grade whitening gel on your teeth that contains stain-releasing ingredients. When the time’s up, we rinse the solution away and repeat the process another 2-3 times. You’ll be surprised at how much brighter your smile is than the one you had when you arrived!

When to Avoid Whitening Your Teeth

When you come in for you whitening consultation, we’ll perform an exam to make sure you’re a good candidate for this procedure. Professional whitening products should only be used for patients age 13 and older. It’s also discouraged if you’re pregnant or nursing.

A few things to keep in mind:

Extreme Sensitivity:

If cold or hot things bother your teeth, then bleaching may not be the best choice. Because some sensitivity is generally expected with a teeth whitening treatment, we provide each of our patients with a desensitizing solution to use in conjunction with your procedure.

Previous Dental Work:

Teeth whitening works great for natural enamel, but the formula doesn’t work on restorative treatments like fillings or crowns that are visible when you smile.

Decay:

If you have active cavities in your mouth, then bleaching isn’t recommended until these areas are repaired. We can always place a temporary filling to match the permanent one to your whiter smile, to address active decay before a permanent restoration is matched to your whiter smile.

Gum Disease:

Bleaching when your gums are unhealthy can cause discomfort. If you have active gingivitis, bleaching is not recommended until the inflammation has been treated.
