Professional Teeth Cleaning

Patient should schedule a routine professional teeth cleaning visit to the dentist every six months.  In fact, It is essential not just for the teeth but for a healthy mind and body.  Typically the hygienist or dentist uses tools and ultrasonic instruments to remove tartar from your teeth.  Our office will also establish a dental hygiene routine that will keep your teeth health.

Scaling and root planning (Deep Cleaning)

In some cases, the plaque and tartar accumulate below the gum line.  In this case, scaling and root planning (deep cleaning) is needed. The root surface is cleaned and smoothed using unique instruments.  Depending on the extent of the periodontal disease, we may refer you to a specialist if we find that further treatment is necessary.

Oral Cancer Screening

The dentist performs an oral cancer screening exam to look for signs of cancer or precancerous conditions in the mouth.

Bonding is a process by which a tooth-colored filling material is used to replace a missing tooth structure or to correct a minor cosmetic defect such as a cracked or a chipped tooth.  Furthermore, It can be used to change the shape of teeth to make them longer or to close gaps between them.  Our doctor typically performs this procedure during a single visit.

Contact Canal Vista Family Dental for more information about Bonding.

A filling is restoring a tooth damaged by decay. Upon the removal of the decay and a thorough cleaning, our doctor will apply the filling material, shape it, and polish it to restore the tooth to its original shape.  Besides, the filling will prevent any further decay.  The filling material can vary.  It can be gold, porcelain, composite resin (tooth-colored filling), or an amalgam (an alloy of silver, copper, and other metals)

No one type of filling is best for everyone and will depend on the extent of the repair, allergies that the patient has to specific materials, the location of the filling, and cost.

Our Princeton, NJ dentist at Canal Vista Family Dental will determine the best option for your fillings based upon your situation.

Crown & Bridges

Crowns and bridges are fixed prosthodontics devices used to protect and restore teeth or to replace missing ones.  They are cemented onto the existing teeth or implants and cannot be removed.

Our dentist can place a crown to cover an entire damaged tooth or an implant.  In addition to strengthening the damaged tooth or the implant, a crown will improve the appearance, shape, and the alignment of the teeth.

Our doctor will recommend a bridge if you are missing one or more teeth.  If you have missing teeth, over time, the remaining teeth rotate or shift into the empty spaces, and this will result in misaligned temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

There are many types of bridges.  You and our Dentist will discuss the various options and what will be the best for your particular case.  The “Traditional Bridge” is the most widely used.  It consists of two crowns that cover two anchoring teeth and are attached to pontics (replacement of missing teeth)

Various materials can be used in crowns and bridges including porcelain ceramic, metal alloys, gold, and acrylic.  Our highly qualified Dentist at Canal Vista Family Dental will determine the best option for crown and bridge procedures.

Root Canal Treatment

During a root canal therapy, our doctor will remove the pulp, clean, and seal the inside of the tooth.  In addition, this procedure is imperative to save a severely infected or decayed tooth instead of removing it.

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth.  There are many options available which will depend on each patient.  Our doctor at Canal Vista Family will provide the best solution to your specific needs.

Tooth Extraction

Sometimes a tooth is severely damaged or is very loose and cannot be repaired.  In this case, the doctor will extract the tooth.

ClearCorrect is an alternative to braces used to straighten teeth.  It uses a series of clear, custom-made, removable aligners that gradually move teeth a little bit a time, eventually correcting the teeth.

The process involves four phases of aligner therapy each lasting a three-week period.  After wearing each aligner set, the teeth will begin slowly adjusting and aligning to your desired smile.  ClearCorrect is available for adults and teenagers and is used to treat different types of orthodontic conditions such as crowded teeth, the spacing between teeth, crooked or rotated teeth.

Our Doctor at Canal Vista Family Dental will determine if a patient is a candidate for ClearCorrect and will determine the best treatment option that best her or his needs.
